Providing a solid foundation for growth

As a Foundation, we provide funding to increase the effectiveness and impact of the WSU Extension Master Gardener Program throughout Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties.

The Master Gardener Foundation of Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties (MGFGHPC) is a non-profit organization staffed 100% by volunteers.

The foundation’s mission is to support and promote the Washington State University Extension Master Gardener Program in Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties through financial support, continuing education, and ongoing volunteer engagement.

The MGFGHPC provides 100% of the financial support for the WSU Master Gardener Program in Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties. The foundation raises funds to assist Master Gardeners in educational outreach, scholarship programs, plant clinics, workshops, participation in our counties’ fairs, and demonstration gardens throughout Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties. We achieve this goal with the Grays Harbor Home & Garden Show in Elma, the Annual Garden Tour, plant sales and similar events.

The WSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteers in Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties are university-trained individuals who aim to help WSU Extension reach our local community with science-based horticulture and environmental stewardship information generated from research at WSU and other university systems.

The WSU Extension Master Gardener Program was formed in 1973 and grew from a need for Washington State county Extension faculty to respond to the growing interest in home gardening.

To become a WSU Master Gardener, a successful applicant to the training program must agree to spend over 100 hours in training and give back a minimum of 40 hours of volunteer service to become a certified Master Gardener. Once certified, Master Gardeners continue their education and volunteer service to their communities.
