Gardening on the Pacific Northwest coast can be challenging and often seems like trial and error! The WSU Master Gardeners of Pacific County and help you learn to recognize the effects our coastal climate has on growing plants successfully. These include different types of soil, amount of rain, wind and sun exposure as well as different microclimates within the growing season.

Opportunities to identify pH needs of plants and soil testing, sustainable ideas for enriching and amending soil, and cultural and environmental ideas to consider when choosing vegetables and ornamental plants. Resources provided for plants that are deer resistant and long term integrated strategies to manage pests that thrive in our coastal environment.

Hands on opportunities to explore and engage in the workshop ideas and discussions. Become a responsible and sustainable gardener as you work with the challenging growing conditions on the NW coast!

Plant Clinic: 10am-12:30pm.
