The Master Gardener program in Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties is a Washington State University Extension program that trains volunteers so that they can help gardeners learn more about the art and science of growing and caring for plants. The program also enables these trained volunteers to extend sustainable gardening information to their communities through educational outreach programs.

Highly recognized, diverse, and fully supported, WSU Master Gardener volunteers are the go-to resource for communities seeking research-based, innovative solutions for their ever-changing horticulture and environmental stewardship needs.

Mission
Engaging university-trained volunteers to empower and sustain diverse communities with relevant, unbiased, research-based horticulture and environmental stewardship education.

Values
- Provide non-biased, science-based gardening information to the public.
- Diagnose plant problems and provide sustainable solutions to home gardeners.
- Design and present educational programs on a wide variety of home gardening topics such as Integrated Pest Management (IPM), yard waste management and composting, water quality protection, and gardening with children, youth, and adults.
- Provide a window to research and education at Washington State University.
- May belong to the Master Gardener Foundation of Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties, a non-profit organization which handles funds raised to support the Master Gardener Volunteer program locally.
- Are trained by WSU Extension faculty and industry professionals.
- Meet once a month, to stay abreast volunteer opportunities and build on their knowledge through continuing education.
- Provide research-based horticultural information to the public through plant clinics, presentations, workshops, demonstrations, and other educational formats.
- Are part of the state-wide WSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteer program in all Washington counties
Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties offer the Master Gardener Volunteer training through Green School, annually. Applications are usually available around June first, and due by the end of August. The online classes begin in the fall and run through February with the hands-on portion, available locally, continuing a bit longer.
