November 2, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

USDA raised garden bed for standing gardenIt’s time to get to work putting your garden to bed for the winter. But are your muscles feeling a little stiff, your knees a little sore, and the strength required to tackle this task causing you to pause and question your abilities? Then you might want to join the Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties Master Gardeners at this 1st Saturday workshop where we’ll be discussing gardening while aging.

The event takes place Saturday, November 2nd. Presentations are scheduled from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, followed by questions/answers and discussion until Noon at the Grays Harbor County Extension Office, 34 Elma McCleary Road, in Elma. The Extension office is co-located with the Grays Harbor County Fairgrounds. As always, registration is free along with parking.

Gardening is great exercise but unless you’re a faithful participant, it can result in aches and pains. Presenters will show you how to avoid those problems using proper pruning shears, shovels, and extendable handles, just to name a few tools. Making the garden more accessible will be another topic of conversation you won’t want to miss.

And it’s always important to remember the Master Gardener’s motto, “Right Plant, Right Place.” They will help you develop an eye for plants that will work best for your circumstances and introduce you to some plants you may not be know. And there is always time for your questions and comments. Come prepared to be re-energized in creating the garden of your dreams – at any age!
