DESCRIPTION:The Master Gardeners of Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties are offering the Propagating Succulents Workshop on Monday\, October 27th\, from Noon until 2:00 PM at the Ocean Shores Public Library\, 573 Point Brown Ave NW in  Ocean Shores. \nLed by Mason County Master Gardener\, Laurie Williams\, will demonstrate how to propagate succulents. Each participant will also have the opportunity practice this skill by creating  – a “succulent pumpkin” (a small pumpkin filled with potting medium and succulents) for a fall decoration. After the season\, there will be rooted succulents to plant.

DESCRIPTION:You may be surprised to learn that more than 200 species of hardy terrestrial — ground — orchids are native plants of North America. Lady slippers (Cypripedium)\, Chinese ground orchids (Bletilla striata) and grass pinks (Calopogon) are orchid species grown in the ground or in containers. Their root systems adapt to soil\, and they do not produce long climbing stems or aerial roots. They can be found growing in diverse climates\, from Alaska to the Southern states. \nOrchid grower and distributor Nevin Aspinwall will present a demonstration and lecture on the propagation of these temperate zone orchids on May 4. \n
