Master Gardeners invite you to gather seeds from the many colorful flowers and tasty vegetables from their garden. \nCome at 9 a.m. on Thursday\, October 11\, to the garden\, which is located at the fairgrounds in Elma.  Remember those flowers you fell in love with when you visited the garden during the fair?  You’ll learn how to harvest their seeds and package them up to store away till next spring’s planting time.  Here’s a bonus: these will make pleasing gifts for your fellow gardener friends. \nThere is no charge for the event and no need to preregister. DESCRIPTION:This first workshop\, in the series of 1st Saturday Workshops with Master Gardeners\, will focus on fall garden topics.  We will tentatively have a giveaway of cover crop seeds (at the moment we are thinking of radishes).  We will be covering the following topics:\n \n\nWhen to expect the first winter frost\nHow to use cold frames and other devices to extend the growing season\nLearn what to plant that will grow and thrive in the colder months\nWays that wildlife can enjoy your garden through the fall and winter seasons.\n\nThis two-hour class\, which begins promptly at 10:00 AM\, is taught by Certified WSU Master Gardeners from Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties. There is no charge and no need to preregister. This class will be held at WSU Extension office in Elma\, co-located with the Grays Harbor County Fairgrounds. \nAfter the workshop\, visit the Plant Clinic to get your questions about plant problems\, insects and other gardening topics answered. The Plant Clinic team will be there to research any questions you might have. DESCRIPTION:The 2017 Garden Tour is moving! On Saturday\, July 15\, ticket holders will be treated to extraordinary gardens in Pacific County. This is the first time our Master Gardener group has hosted a garden tour in Pacific County. \nThe 2017 tour features five delightful gardens a short drive away in the Raymond area of Pacific County. The gardens are open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Four of the gardens are in the scenic Willapa Valley\, off Highway 6. The fifth garden\, the historic North River Resort\, is a few miles along SR 105\, where the North River flows into Willapa Bay. \nEach of the gardens has unique qualities\, demonstrating a variety of gardening techniques to provide you with ideas for your own plantings. This tour includes a riverside property\, a one-acre lake\, and a variety of structures and sculptures\, as well as adaptations for the Pacific County climate. \nThe ticket books\, now available for $12\, include garden descriptions\, maps and driving directions to each garden. Choose your own starting point\, and visit all or as many gardens as you want. This is a self-guided tour. Tickets are available at Aberdeen\, Marshall’s Garden & Pet; Hoquiam\, Harbor Drug & Gifts; Montesano\, Valu Drug; Elma Variety Store; Grayland\, the Rose Cottage; Ocean Shores\, Galway Bay/Celtic Imports and Mermaid Cove; Raymond\, Dennis Company and Everyone’s Video & More; South Bend\, Elixir Café and Floral Design.  \nAll proceeds benefit the WSU Master Gardener educational program of Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties. \n \n \n \nWSU Extension programs and employment are available without discrimination. DESCRIPTION:Good pruning is one of the keys to a happy and healthy plant. The last in this year’s Master Gardening series at the Hoquiam Timberland Library will be presented Saturday\, June 17th from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m.  Come learn the secrets of proper pruning. WSU Master Gardeners Garnet Kuronen and Jude Armstrong will begin the class with a discussion of basic pruning skills and techniques.
