Our own MG member\, Gwendolyn Gates:\, will talk about restoring the historic Polson Rose Garden and how to successfully grow roses in our challenging Maritime climate.\n \n\n11:30 AM—Exclusive screening of “The Extraordinary Caterpillar\,” a stunningly beautiful documentary produced by Homegrown National Park partnered with Jeff McKay. Caterpillars are the engine of food webs\, feed birds\, support pollinators\, and keep ecosystems thriving. You will never look at a caterpillar as boring and inconsequential again.\n  \n12:30 PM —Nicole MusicOlney\, of the Chehlis Tribe\, will demonstrate how to incorporate foraged and indigenous foods into nutritious modern recipes and talk about the benefits of growing your food. \n \n\nThe Home & Garden Show on May 16 & 17\, 2026\,  is a great opportunity learn how to be a better gardener. \n  \nRequests for reasonable accommodation need to be made two weeks prior to the program. DESCRIPTION:The Master Gardeners of Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties will be hosting a Plant Clinic on Saturday\, May 30\, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 2 PM at Ace Hardware\, 641 Point Brown Ave NE\, Ocean Shores. \n\nCommon questions for the Master Gardener volunteers are: \n\nWhat plants grow best in the Pacific Northwest?\nWhat can I grow in the maritime environment?\nHow can I test my soil?\nWhat will I have problems growing where I live?\n\nTo help us better diagnose a plant problem\, please try to share as much of the following information as possible: \n\nThe type of damage are you seeing and when it start\nThe parts of the plant that are affected: flower\, leaf\, stem\, fruit\, etc.\nHow is the plant watered and the amount and frequency of watering\nThe location of the plant ; in a garden bed or in the lawn\, next to a driveway or house\, in full or part sun\, the direction the plant faces\, etc.\n\nSharing photographs of your plant problem\, plant identification or insect identification is helpful. We’ll cover essential soil principles\, organic gardening practices\, soil testing and pH\, the soil pyramid\, and how to mix your own soil blends for containers and in-ground gardens.  \nParticipants will also learn the block method of seed starting and create their own soil mix. You’ll leave with practical knowledge for building healthy soil\, plus hands-on experience planting seeds in your custom-mixed ingredients.

DESCRIPTION:WSU Master Gardeners of Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties are sponsoring a Plant Clinic and Information Center at the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum in Ilwaco on Saturday\, June 13\, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. We will be there to address your plant questions\, concerns\, and suggestions. The Discovery Garden is located behind the Museum’s parking lot at 115 SW Lake Street. \nIf you have questions such as: \n\nWhat is causing my rose bush to show clumps of red to orange powder on the lower surfaces of its leaves?\nHow do I place mulch around trees and shrubs?A small yellow wing beetle covered with black spots is decimating several of my dahlias/ What is it and how do I get rid of it?\nMoss is all over my lawn. What moss killer can I use?\nOne of my tomato plants has gray-green\, water-soaked spots that appear on the leaves\, stems and fruit. What is causing this?\n\nWe can help you! Stop by anytime.
